Chapter Twenty

"I killed Leila, Anne. I fucking killed Alpha Theo's mate." Leo said, and he watched Anne's expression, searching to see if she would judge him but he couldn't see anything like that. Her expression was of shock, and slowly he let the tears flow down his face in torrents.

Anne's mouth hung open as she stared unbelievably at him, but her hold on him tightened when she saw his tears. She quickly used her hands to wipe the tears from his face, and made her hands to cup his face.

"How did it happen Leo?" Anne demanded, making sure he was looking directly into her eyes. "What made you kill her?"

Leo sniffed, and he bit his lower lip and he hitched his nose up when he tasted the saltines of his tears.

"I didn't let that happen on purpose, trust me Anne, I didn't." He explained, and he paused a minute to swallow before he continued. "I know I am one of the most reckless Alpha's, but I have my own rules. Everyone does and I am no exception."
