Eva's POV

"I just want to talk." I stopped walking and turned to face him, my heart still racing. "What do you want to talk about?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. He looked at me, his eyes searching mine. "I want to talk about what happened," he said, and I knew he was referring to the night I shifted. I tensed, not sure if I was ready to talk about it.

Mark took a deep breath and then looked me in the eye. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice low and sincere. "I shouldn't have locked you in the dark room. I was upset and I acted rashly. I didn't think about how it would affect you. I was only thinking about myself. I'm sorry." I looked at him, surprised by his apology. I hadn't expected him to say those words. But then again, I didn't know what to expect from him. He was so unpredictable. I didn't know what to say, so I just stood there, staring at him.
