Chapter 30

Nathan:

I looked at Katerina who sat on one of the benches, running her fingers through her hair as she took a deep breath, calming herself down. Her heart raced as she shook her leg, processing what had happened earlier with Donatello.

“Do you want us to go home?” I asked, looking down at her. She has refused to spare me a second glance after our argument, and has been sitting on the bench, getting lost in her thoughts since then.

“You can go if you want, Nathan, I’ll manage my own ride, thank you” Katerina said, not looking at me. I took a step toward her, frowning when I saw her flinching before she wrapped her arms around herself, looking down at her lap “I would like to stay alone”

“Can I ask why the whole subject bothered you as much?”

“Really?” Katerina asked “you lied to me, made me believe that you wanted to take me out for lunch…”

“I wanted to…”
