Alpha Ronan and Beta Grant

I honestly didn’t care if I died.

I had lost my husband and my father. I had practically no one and nothing to live for. I couldn’t be a Luna to an Alpha-less pack.

“Go ahead and kill me!” I bellowed. “You’re still a cruel, heartless murderer and you will rot for what you’ve done!”

“How dare you speak to me like that you pathetic-” His eyes shot over to me and then glossed over. I could see his entire body change.

“What are you waiting for?” I asked my captor. “Kill me like he said.”

“No!” Alpha Ronan commanded. “Let her go, Beta Grant.”

The man did as he said. Alpha Ronan slowly approached me.

“Who are you?” He asked.

“Luna Bowen.” I replied shakily.

Though I had been fine yelling at him when I thought I was going to die, I was now terrified of him being so close to him.

“And you shall keep that title.” Alpha Ronan grinned. “However, you will need a new wedding dress.”

“For what?”

“For our wedding. The Moon Goddess has chosen you for me. We’re going to get married in three days. That should give you time to get over your dead husband.”

“You’re despicable!” I spat.

“And you are very pretty.” He gently touched my face and I pulled away. “You’ll warm up to me.”

“I won’t. And I will not marry you.” I said firmly.

Alpha Ronan grabbed my face roughly. “Bowen…If you haven’t noticed, I get what I want. And I want you…so I will have you. Willingly or with you kicking and screaming.”

“I’d rather die.”

“Hm. Would you rather your pack die? See because I can welcome them into my pack and protect them…or I can kill them and you will watch as I do.”

“Seems like an easy choice.” Beta Grant grunted from behind me.

Why couldn’t they just kill me? It would be easier for me. I had only been Luna for three hours and I had to make the biggest decision of my life now. Today wasn’t supposed to be like this.

I looked around at my pack. Fear was clear in their eyes. I had to do the right thing.

I hung my head in defeat. “Okay. I will marry you.”

Alpha Ronan smirked. “I knew you’d agree, Bowen.” He pressed his lips against mine hard. It was unlike any other kiss I'd ever had. While it was passionate, it was also harsh and dominating. It felt like he was putting me in my place.

“Beta Grant, take my bride back to our pack house. Make sure nothing touches a hair on her pretty little head. I want her perfect for our wedding night.”

--

Beta Grant gripped my arm tightly as we shuffled through the forest. He was much taller than me and took longer strides, so he was basically just dragging me along.

I could feel twigs snagging on my wedding dress. At this point I would have to throw it out. It was dirty and bloody and no longer represented purity and the happiest day of my life.

I looked over at Beta Grant. He had a frown on his face as though he was the one who got the short end of the stick in this particular situation.

Other than his terrifying demeanor, he was an insanely good looking man. He had a jaw that could cut class, intense blue eyes, and through his torn shirt, I could see how big his muscles were.

Maybe in any other circumstance I would find him wildly attractive. Something about him reminded me of Ewan. Maybe he would be just as merciful as Ewan would be in this situation.

“Can you do me a favor?” I asked.

“We’re close. If you have to go to the bathroom, just hold it. “ He grunted.

“It’s not that.”

“Then what is it?”

“Please kill me.” I said suddenly.

He stopped in his tracks and looked over at me. His blue eyes narrowed at me in confusion.

“You want to die?”

I nodded as tears streamed down my face. “Please, Grant.”

“Beta Grant,” he snapped. “You will respect my title.”

“Okay…just kill me. T-tell him I tried to run and you couldn’t stop me and killing me was the only choice!”

“He’s not as dumb as he looks! He’s going to know what happened. Kill yourself on your own time, not mine!”

“You know, I heard The Eclipse Pride was ruthless, but I never could have predicted you were this cruel.” I whispered. “You ruined my wedding day.”

“Well, lucky you, you get to have another one, stop whining.” Beta Grant tugged on my arm again.

“Please!” I begged. “I don’t want to be alive anymore!”

Beta Grant growled. “I really don’t care what you want, Princess. If you die, I die.  I was given an order and I have to follow through on it.”

“The last man that was given an order to protect me is now dead.”

“Is that a threat?”

“Maybe it is.”

He laughed bitterly. “My brother has his work cut out with you.”

“Alpha Ronan is your brother? Now I know why you’re so angry.” I stated.

“What does that mean?”

“Well, I don’t have any siblings, but I imagine if my sister were stronger, more powerful and more important than me I would have the same attitude that you do.”

Beta Grant glared at me. “If you weren’t going to be my brother’s wife I would-”

“Kill me? Snap my neck? Rip my heart out? That’s all I’m asking, Beta Grant. If you do one good thing in your life, let it be this.”

“I am not going to kill you, Luna Bowen, get that through your head.”

I paused before biting down hard on his arm. He released me and I took off running. I had no idea where I was going, I was just hoping I could find a cliff to jump off or something.

“Get back here!” Beta Grant roared.

I pushed myself to run faster. “Go back to him,” Basia commanded.

“No!” I shouted.

I heard the sound of water. If I could get to a creek or something, maybe he couldn’t track me. I was relieved when I came across a waterfall. Hopefully there were sharp rocks at the bottom and I wouldn’t survive such a jump.

“Luna Bowen don’t!” I heard Beta Grant shout.

Well, it’s now or never.

I lept off of the cliff and prayed that death would take me quickly.
