White Wedding

There was blood on my wedding dress.

The red spatters made the white stand out even more. Made it look even more pure and innocent. The white made the blood look even more sinister and demonic.

This was not how the day was supposed to go.

--

I stared at my reflection in excitement. I had been waiting for this day since I was fifteen. I was going to be Alpha Ewan’s wife! Luna of The Silver Streak Pack. I couldn’t wait to support Ewan for the rest of our lives.

The best part about this marriage was that Ewan and I weren’t just mates, we were soulmates. While one day we did look at each other and realize we wanted to be together forever, it wasn’t something decided by The Moon Goddess. We fell in love like everyone should get to.

“You’re beautiful!” My best friend Saige smiled. “Alpha Ewan will just die when he sees you!”

“It’s not too much makeup right?” I examined the shimmers of gold on my eyelids along with the black wing drawn over it.

“Stop worrying, Bowen, you’re perfect. I’m so jealous! I can’t believe you’re marrying the Alpha.” She fixed her long brown hair in the mirror. “I would literally kill to be in your shoes! The Moon Goddess truly favors you.”

“It has nothing to do with the Moon Goddess, Saige. Ewan and I chose each other because we’re in love. I’m just lucky.”

“Well I wish I was as lucky as you,”

“Can you make sure everything is ready out there? I’m nervous as hell.”

“You got it,” She squeezed my arm and left the room.

I continued fussing with my hair and makeup anxiously. There was a knock on the door.

“Come in!” I called.

I smiled as a handsome man slipped into the room. His dark red hair was neatly brushed back and his tux was immaculate. His bright blue eyes lit up with excitement upon seeing me.

“You look beautiful,” He breathed, quickly walking over to me.

Before I could speak, his lips captured mine. He lifted me up on the makeup table as his tongue danced along mine. His hands fingered the lace designs on my dress before I gently pushed him away.

“Ewan,” I whispered. “It’s bad luck to see the bride before the wedding!”

“I couldn’t wait any longer, Bow.” He kissed me again. “You are perfect.”

“Can you believe we finally get to get married?” I giggled. “Four years down the line, who would have thought?”

“Me. I was always sure of two things: I would be Alpha and you would be my Luna.”

“And were you so sure?”

“Because…you’re my mate.” He teased, kissing me again. “And tonight we finally get to make love…as a married couple anyways.”

“We were always bad about following the rules.” I shook my head. “Now Ewan you have to go! You’re supposed to be waiting for me at the end of the aisle.”

“You know you’re the only one who tells me what to do,” Ewan grinned. “I love it. And I love you.”

I kissed him once more. “I’ll see you out there, my love.”

Ewan giddily left the room and I faced the mirror again.

I had to look perfect.

--

Dad tried his best not to cry as we walked down the aisle, but he couldn’t help it. It was like he was crying for the both of us.

“Your mother would be so proud of you,” He whispered. “She’s watching from the other side, just smiling.”

“Thank you, Dad.” I whispered back. “I think she’s proud of both of us.”

While my dad made it look easy, I knew it must have been hard being a single father, especially while fulfilling his Beta duties in the pack. Somehow he managed to raise me with love and kindness. I was beyond lucky to have him.

Finally we reached Ewan, who looked ecstatic and was wiping tears from his eyes.

“Alphas aren't supposed to cry,” I whispered.

“And Lunas aren’t supposed to be so sassy.” He smiled, taking my hands.

The whole ceremony I just stared at Ewan. I was so in love with every part of him. His brilliant mind, his kind heart, his warm body. He was my other half. My Alpha forever.

--

I looked around happily at the reception. Our whole pack was there, enjoying themselves and praising the Moon Goddess for such a wondrous occasion. I spotted Saige hurrying over to me with a drink.

“For you, Luna Bowen.” She bowed.

“Oh stop!” I giggled. “Look, nothing is going to change. I have a title now and that’s it. I’m still just Bowen. I just happen to be married to the Alpha now.”

“Oh yes, nothing exciting about that. You really don’t realize how good you have it?”

“I do, it’s just not worth making a fuss over. I would love Ewan even if he wasn’t the Alpha.”

“You talking about me?” Ewan asked, coming from behind us.

“Yes. All terrible things,” I smiled.

He grabbed my waist and pulled me to him. “I expect nothing less.” He pressed his lips against mine and sighed in content. “I have never been happier.”

“Neither have I.”

“Let’s dance.”

I waved to Saige as Ewan pulled me onto the dance floor. Everyone watched as we swayed.

“I have to tell you something,” Ewan murmured. “Don’t be mad.”

“What is it?” I looked up at him.

“We have to push back the honeymoon.”

“Why?”

“Something has to be done about The Eclipse Pride.” Ewan stated. “They’re taking over pack after pack. We could be next.”

“Ewan…their Alpha is dangerous. That’s not a werewolf you want to poke.”

“If I don’t do something, who will?”

“Some other Alpha that’s not married to me. It can’t wait two weeks?” I whined.

Ewan sighed. “Fine. But after the honeymoon, I’m doing something about it.”

“I suppose that’s fine.”

He ginned. “Why do they say the Alpha is in charge when really it’s the Luna pulling the strings?”

“Behind every great man is a woman who knows better.” I kissed him deeply.

Cheers erupted around us. I almost didn’t notice when the cheers turned into screams of terror.

“We’re under attack!”

I looked around to see werewolves surrounding the party as snarls and whines filled the air.

“Retaliate!” Ewan shouted. “And get the Luna out of here!”

“Ewan, no!” I cried clinging to him. “You have to be safe too!”

“I have to fight with the pack,” He kissed me. “I love you, stay safe.”

“No!” I screamed as I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and yank me away from Ewan. “Put me down!”

“I’m sorry, Luna, I must follow Alpha Ewan’s orders!” Jude exclaimed.

He took me to the dressing room I had been getting ready in and locked the door.

“We have to help them!” I proclaimed.

He shook his head. “Luna Bowen, I cannot disobey a direct order!”

I ran to the window to see the chaos happening outside. I watched in horror as members of my pack were slaughtered without a second thought. I couldn’t see Ewan or my dad anywhere. I couldn’t just stay here.

I grabbed a shirt and wrapped it around my hand and punched the window as hard as I could. The glass shattered around me.

“Luna Bowen no!” Jude yelled.

Before I could jump out of the window, a wolf had already lept into the room, knocking me to the floor.

The wolf scrambled up, growling at me. Without changing forms, Jude tackled the wolf before it attacked me. I blinked furiously as my head swam. The room filled with yelps and objects falling over and clattering to the floor.

Jude wrestled with the wolf. “Luna Bowen get ou-”

I screamed as the wolf ripped his throat out and flung it right at me. Blood splattered on my face and dress.

“Get up!” My wolf, Basia ordered.

I got up and flung myself out of the window. I managed to land on my feet.

I looked around at the bloodshed surrounding me. I took off running, praying to find Ewan’s white wolf. I cried as I tripped over something and landed in the cold grass.

I looked back and shrieked. I was met with the sight of my father’s dead body.

“Daddy!” I crawled over to him. I was hyperventilating as I touched his face. There was no sign of life in him.

He was gone.

“Find Ewan.” Basia said softly. I knew she could feel the immense pain I was in, but also that I needed to find Ewan.

I ducked and dodged wolves and men desperately looking for my husband. I could feel him near, but couldn’t pinpoint his exact location.

Suddenly I spotted him in human form, on the ground breathing raggedly.

“Ewan!” I wailed, dropping to my knees. “Ewan look at me!”

His eyes were straining to stay open. “Bow…you can’t be here.”

“I’m fine a-and so are you. Come on get up.”

My eyes fell on his torso. It was covered in blood and claw marks. He wasn’t healing as fast as he should.

“I can’t,” He gulped. “Their Alpha is too strong.”

“But you’re better than him, just get up!” I cried. “I need you Ewan, please! I love you, just get up!”

Ewan’s bloody hand touched my cheek “I…love you.”

His hand fell limply.

I shook him. “Ewan? Wake up!”

Suddenly a loud, powerful voice filled the air. “Enough fighting!”

I looked up through my tear filled eyes to see a large man with blonde hair. While he was handsome, something about him put fear in my heart. His dark blue eyes darted around to make sure he was being listened to.

“Silver Streak Pack, surrender! Your pack now belongs to me! I am your new Alpha!”

“Murderer!” I screamed before running towards him.

I was caught around the waist by a man who looked similar to the man who had just spoken.

“What do you want me to do with her, Alpha Ronan?” The man holding me asked.

Alpha Ronan didn’t even look in my direction. “Kill her.”
