Chapter 48: Feeling useless

All night, I didn't sleep; I was like a soulless person looking at the flashing emergency room.

Roger didn't leave either; he stayed by my side all night and regularly checked the news. There was no clear answer, but I could guess the outcome because every time he finished looking at the phone, his eyes were only filled with disappointment and guilt, not daring to look me in the face.

Near dawn, I lowered my face and raised my voice hoarsely. "Any news yet?"

"Not yet." Roger shook his head, cautiously observing my expression before saying his following sentence. “I am afraid the search is more difficult than we previously planned. If it's bad, the search could take a few days."

Hearing this, I impatiently grabbed Roger by the collar, stared at him, and roared. “Useless, a bunch of people who claim to be the best but still can't find a single person. If so, what do I need you for?"
