We had just entered our territory when Zoe started getting impatient. She pressed a few buttons here and there until I asked, “What are you trying to do?”

“Music. I want music.” She smiled. She had never smiled this relaxed before.

Being a werewolf, surrounded by werewolves, I had never gotten truly drunk or seen anyone get drunk. It was a human trait that our fast metabolisms never allowed us to feel.

But since Zoe did not have a wolf, she didn’t have any of the perks that came with being a superorganism.

I turned on the music player and let her find the soundtrack she preferred.

She shuffled through a lot of stuff before landing on a song that I wouldn’t have expected from her.

I recognized it as she started singing the lyrics at the top of her lungs,

“He's got blue eyes, crooked smile

Knows that he drives me wild

But when he gets down on his knees,”

She looked at me shamelessly as she traced a fing
