My heart was beating so hard. My eyes didn’t leave Ryder’s growing dragon frame as he flew closer, gaining speed with every massive thrust of his giant wings. I heard Drake’s body fall to the ground. I heard his heart stop pumping, but still, I didn’t look away. I didn’t want Ryder to be here. Though I knew he would come, the fear of something happening to him again creates a pain within me that could never be mirrored or overshadowed by anything else.
