“I’m talking to you, Maya,” he said firmly.

I looked back at him. He was slightly annoyed from what I could tell, though he tried to mask it. I had no idea what to say. He waited for me to break the ice.

Finally, I mumbled, “I lost my way to the bathroom. Why are they a lot of feminine things in this room?”

He walked past me to the window. I watched as he peered out, and prayed Mike had gone further from where he had been. He shouldn’t even see a glimpse of his shadow.

Ian walked back to me, and then touched my arm. The gesture threw me slightly off balance. I pulled back, letting his hands fall to his side. Ian looked at me for a very long time, and I was wondering what he was thinking.

“I will guide you to the bathroom.” He said calmly.
