Ryder whipped his head to the left and thought he saw branches of the trees swaying excessively. He stopped there for a moment to inspect whether what he saw was just an illusion. A screech from the squirrels allayed his fears. He shook his head for overthinking and rushed to follow the group. Throughout the trek, he was clearing the way for Lyle. He would pick up the fallen logs if they came in her way or used his machete to cut the tall grass only to check whether there were snakes or not and make way for her.
