Evelyn's knee was bouncing nonstop in anxiety as she watched it in silence. With a sparse breath, she clutched it tightly and it stopped moving.

Her whole body ached and she was burning up with fever. She woke up with a headache. She recalled how she groggily changed her clothes last night and got under the blanket. The girl was too tired to dry her hair.

She sneezed and then sniffed, staring at the sky outside the window from her place on the bed. She was so thirsty, it was as if someone rubbed sandpaper on her throat.

Glancing at her reflection in the mirror, she stroked her neck and chest which were full of light purple and pink bruises.

He must find it peaceful or exciting to torment her. Evelyn wondered when she would be free of this misery. Maybe the end of it would be with her.

Would she be able to meet her parents or would God allow her to be in heaven? She wasn't human. Maybe she'll be thrown in hell for being what she never wanted to be.
