Lexus' POV

Adalyn raced up to the car and jumped into the back seat to meet with me.

Shopping with her had been moved to the next day, currently today since she was still with Mark, her mate.

I had cancelled the gathering with the wolves. I figured, fate would do the work.

I was on my phone, discussing business with a few of my friends and business partners.

"Western Mall, please" Adalyn said to the driver, and he started driving.

Then she turned to me and snatched my phone, "your eyes are always stuck on electrical appliances,"

Adalyn is my older sister, she got ahead of me with four years but she still acted like a teenage girl even as she'd already given me a ten-year-old adorable niece.

"Why didn't you ask your mate to take you shopping?" I asked her and her eyes turned all lovey-dovey at the thought of him.

"Mark has things to do, I don't want to bug him" she replied

"But you want to bug me, I guess I don't have things to do, that'll be why"

She rolled her eyes at my sarcastic remark, "you're my brother, it's my job to bug you" she said and I rolled my eyes, "anyways, all of today is on you. You're gonna waste some bucks bro"

"Get the F up!!" I was kicked on my back and immediately on my stomach, I grunted in pain and got up to see Mason looking down at me with disgust when mom came out.

"Bitch!", She delivered a punch to my nose "I told you not to sleep but you were too lazy!" She yelled and I felt liquid drip from my nose, I was having a nosebleed.

I never thought that this lazy witch I call a mother would be this strong but I wondered why she attacked my face, my dad had always told me I had a really pretty face and he loved it so whenever they had to hit me, they would always avoid my face.

"Mom!! You told me dad doesn't like when we hit her face", Peter screamed

"I'll tell him the gangsters hit her," she turned to me daringly "right? You'll tell him the gangsters hit you"

I chuckled inwardly, the woman was scared behind this demeanor, dad was abusive to her and if he found out that she did this then she might receive a beating much more than I did.

I nodded but I had other plans in mind.

Mason read my mind and gave me a punch on my jaw, "if you dare spout anything I will kill you!"

I tasted something fishy and immediately spat it out.

I knew if I went on with this attitude then they would go on with the beating, so I gave in.

"I-I won't, I don't dare to" I said and he humphed

"I thought so", he said

"I have to go to work," Brenda, my mom said. Yeah right, and by work, she meant hang out with friends, I had caught her and I wasn't surprised, I mean who would think of hiring her?

"I don't have the time to deal with your nonsense but don't think you won't get a punishment for what you did, you're not eating today and I don't want to hear news of you heading to that Paisley girl's house. If history repeats itself again then you'll get a real punishment" she said

I lowered my head, "yes mom, I'm sorry"

"You best be, Mason, get her a first-aid kit to wrap her face up", at least she knows what to do not to get on dad's bad side, "now get to the kitchen, I'm waiting" she said and I headed for the kitchen.

After cooking some pasta, they all left, Mason went to look for a job (I think, well that was what he said), and Emma left to her friends place.

It had been two days since that incident and my injuries were all gone now, I was all alone in the house, I was not allowed to go see Paisley and I had some other friends but Brenda had told warned me not to go to anyone's either so I was stuck here.

My phone buzzed in my pocket and I grabbed it to see Sophia calling.

"Hey Dove," she said

"Hi Soph, aren't you supposed to be in work right now, working?"

"I normally would be but I took a break and I'm free so I thought, to cheer you up, why don't we meet at your house then, maybe do a little girls shopping at Western Mall?"

"Oh I would love to but I'm kind of grounded right now"

"What?"

I get it, I'm 24 and grounded, absolutely ridiculous. But I could sneak out.

"That was a slip. Sure, are you coming over right now?"

"Oh yeah just send me your address and I'll be there"

I did and she said she'd be here in ten minutes, enough time for me to get out of this.

I opted for a white cropped cardi, matching tank top and a white-blue patterned mini skirt, some white heeled boots. I undid my messy bun and put it up in a high ponytail with a headband around it. I put on some lip gloss and I felt like a million bucks looking at myself in the mirror.

How many? Like 6? Well, that was all I had with me.

Oh! The envelope was still with Paisley and knowing her, she might have taken a few dollars out.

...And headed for the door. I opened it up to reveal Sophia dressed in simple clothes compared to what I have on.

She looked shocked for a moment, I'm guessing she hasn't seen me this dressed up before but she brushes it off until she decides to make a comment.

"Hey Dove, why so dressed up?"

"It feels like I haven't gone out in ages", she simply chuckles and turns to her car, she gestures for me to get in and started the engine minutes later then took off.
