In the midst of my fear, my mind raced, desperately searching for a solution to survive this dire situation. Despite my inability to shift, I knew I had to think quickly and find a way to protect myself. As the wolves drew nearer, I considered my options.

I scanned the surroundings, looking for any potential tools or objects that I could use as a makeshift defense. Perhaps there were rocks, branches, or anything that could be used as a deterrent. I could throw objects at the wolves to create a distraction, buying my precious moments to devise a more effective strategy.

Simultaneously, I remembered the slaves who hadn't shifted and had stepped back, creating a gap between the wolves and me.

I realized that they might provide a temporary shield against the approaching wolves. If I could navigate through the slaves, I might be able to gain some distance from the oncoming danger, but I would be endangering their lives too.
