Helena’s P.O.V.

“Sod off, Mr. Anderson. Don’t ask for trouble.”

My frantic heartbeat must have been audible to that lycan, but I put up my brave face and countered his attack. It would be stupid to give in to his temptation, a person like Carver wasn’t a man to take seriously.

Even as a single mom, I had to deal with plenty of over-confident suitors, as my brother Liam was adamant about marrying me off to a human.

Phew!

He didn’t know that I was immune to these charms now. A smile as bright as winter’s morning stretched Carver’s lips, he bit his lower lip gently.

“Feisty, I like it!”

He freed my wrists and stepped away; the sting of extreme heat had reddened my skin. I was running my fingers over those bruises while Carver dragged a chair and sat on it leisurely.

“Why are you so pissed off at me, love? I was expecting a different outcome from you.”

“A different outcome? What do you mean by it?”

I sneered, completely disregarding his shocked face.
