Chapter 80 | Lousy

It’s been three miserable days.

All I do is sleep, get sick, drink something to stay hydrated, and then do it all over again. Maggie has given me every food she can think of to help soothe my stomach but nothing works.

Maven hasn’t brought up me taking a pregnancy test again, but every time I get sick or complain in front of him he gives me a knowing look. It’s like he’s taunting me saying, “I know something you don’t know!”

He would never say it out loud but he’s thinking it and it infuriates me.

My phone rings and I groan as I try not to open my eyes as I move my hand around trying to find it. The incessant ringing makes my ears ring and I finally grab it and answer, “Hello?”

“Amelia? Is now a good time to talk?”
