Again. All I saw was his back disappearing into the woods. Who was he? Why do I never get to see his face?

I hugged Noah as he ran up to me but my eyes very much on the treeline where he disappeared into. Just then I heard a howl. A very painful one. I felt as if it was cursing me. My heart clenched painfully as my eyes started to sting.

When I looked up, I saw Matt facing the same direction that he disappeared into. His face had hidden all the emotions but his jaws were clenched. When he finally noticed me looking at him, he gave me a small smile.

“Don’t worry about it.”

And with that he dismissed any questions that wanted to jump out of my mouth. I nodded my head at him as I once again looked into the woods.

A tug on my arm pulled me back and I looked down at Noah’s sad blue eyes. “Why is he so sad?”

I furrow my brows at his question, but he turns to look up at Matt. “She’s here now but why does he still seem so sad?”
