DARUIS POV:

I couldn't help but wonder why she had lied to me. Why did she say that her wolf had no scent? why she hid that she was my mate. My mind raced, trying to figure out what she could possibly gain from deceiving me like this.

Every single thing that had happened from the very beginning was a complete and utter lie. The enormity of the deception should have sent me into a rage, but for some inexplicable reason, I found myself incapable of summoning the fury that should have been there.

I knew that I should be furious with her for what she had done, but instead, I found myself feeling oddly protective of her.

As she took off running, my initial intention was to discipline her sternly for her disobedience. I was determined to make her understand that such reckless behaviour would not be tolerated. However, things were not the same now. She is my mate now.
