Chapter Fifty Three

JASON

Due to the time difference, I got back a little after 3am, knowing fully well that Elena was going to be asleep, which was okay by me.

I didn’t want to have to explain to her about my whereabouts. At least not when my eyes were almost closing and all I could think of, was sleeping.

The meeting with my mother had actuall been relaxing, and I was glad I went there, despite her insisting every now and then, that she wanted to meet Elena.

I groaned as I kicked my foot against a vase, just before the beginning of the staircase that would lead me to the bedroom.

If there was one thing I hated, it was the pain that came with kicking one’s toes. I would rather take a punch. And to think I had taken of my shoes immediately I opened the door, just so I wouldn’t make much noise as I climbed up.

I cursed in annoyance, wiggling the toes and started advancing towards the top of the stairs. It was in the haze of my annoyance, that my eyes caught sight of something that lay on the floor.
