Chapter Ninety

Luka’s POV

I ended up at the bar and drank in a stupor. It was a miracle how I managed to drive home without crashing through some random vehicle but that didn't bother me because I wasn’t planning on sleeping tonight anyway. I was just trying to drown out my problems and think of nothing except what was going on behind my eyelids.

I wasn't okay.

I thought I was going to be able to handle the news of Emily being missing but the pregnancy was a shocker to me.

I had an opportunity to be a father, an opportunity I had been looking forward to all my life and it had been ripped from my hand like a paper towel. Now I'm not even sure if I should have left her alone they might, considering the circumstances.

That night…

I remember it vividly just like yesterday. Her scent had lingered in the air, it was there still lingering in my senses. The scent of jasmine perfume and fresh rain with a hint of cinnamon always reminded me of home. Even now, had she overheard my conversation over the phone?
