Chapter Thirty seven

Emily's POV

The fall didn't come, instead, a pair of hands wrapped themselves securely around my waist, pulling me tightly against their chest. I felt arms encircle my torso, keeping me firmly in place as my head fell against the broad chest in front of me. After regaining my senses, I lifted my head up to meet his gaze which was staring intently at me.

I don't know how the soup had managed to survive, and I don't know anything that had happened but it was almost like a miracle.

When I stared down at my legs when I felt something warm running down my shin. I knew instantly what happened even before I saw the stain on the floor, the red liquid slowly flowing down under my foot only proved one thing, I had stepped on one of the broken pieces of glass.

His gaze traveled down to the pool of blood growing around my feet.

His eyebrows pinched together in confusion.

“Fuck” I heard him mutter but his breath reeked of alcohol and I am sick of saying I almost leaned in to taste it off his ton
