Chapter one hundred and Forty-five

Luke's POV

I did not see Carolyn in the hours that followed. I believed that she was staying away from me- avoiding me and I felt like a jerk. How could I hurt my sister like that?

“Sir?” One of the guards called out to me, jolting me out of my thoughts.

“What is it, Albert?”

“Herschel is back and he's asking for you”

That was all I needed to hurry to the courtroom where the tall blonde skinny man who always wore black stood with an impatient look on his face as if he couldn't wait to tell me what he found.

We locked eyes for a moment before Hershel let out a sigh. “Greetings Sir”

The last time expected him, he didn't show up and I knew how difficult it was to sneak around.

“Herschel, a surprise to see you here. How have you been since our parting?”

He gave a nod in reply. “Good and you, Sir, how have you been? We were not able to visit you as much as we would like to, I am sure you know why”
