Chapter 1

Life seems to want to show you that you are nothing. And that it has the power to force you to make choices that wouldn't be necessary if some people didn't get in your way, it forces you to change course when we make wrong and right choices. Looking at these tall trees, flowers of various colors, I could realize how small I am. Every detail that appears around us has a minimum of perfection, everything is beautiful, splendidly majestic. Except, my life which is nothing but pure disappointment, sorrows and lies, constant changes, everything is perfect. Maybe today my life will change for the better, maybe I can finally improve everything around me.

I looked again at the view outside the bus, feeling calmer. I didn't like my life, but I felt grateful to finally be leaving the place that disappointed me so much. I took a deep breath and looked at the paper in my hand where was written the address of the house where I will live, a small house, but cozy because it's just me. I preferred it this way, I will feel better in a new and small place, although small had become a habit.

I arrived at the bus station looking for a cab, I still wasn't sure how to get to my address by myself and I couldn't take too long, because the truck that is with my removals was nearby, soon I would be there. I saw a man in front of the yellow cab, a sign that there was still no passenger. I approached him, seeing him straighten his posture as soon as he saw me arrive.

- Hello, good morning sir, could you take me to this address? - I asked, holding out the newspaper towards him, watching the man leaning over to read what was written.

- Santa Marta, block c, number twenty, sure, it's not that far, come on in! - Said the middle-aged man with a friendly look, leaving the car and heading to the trunk giving me passage to store my small handbag and another smaller one where I kept only the necessary, he walked to the driver's side and got in, I went to the back seat, soon hearing the roar of the engine, and feeling him move when he noticed I was already installed in my seat.

- Not to be curious, but what is a girl like you doing in our town? It's not very common for someone to come alone. - After a while of driving, he asked while looking at me through the rear view mirror.

It was really a small town and very quiet, only tourists came on festival days because the town was very beautiful to visit during this time, but that didn't mean it was a bad place to live, at least in my opinion it didn't have any problems and seemed to be very quiet.

- I will live here, I like the atmosphere. - I just answered, not wanting to get into the subject further, after all I was not very used to talking deliberately with strangers. Looking at the landscape, the place was really beautiful with old houses with low fences, lots of flowers and trees around, it seemed like I was in another time, the lampposts were the same as in the Mary Poppins movie, the streets with bricks everything, a charm and beautiful, conveyed an air of peace in my heart.

- Here we are! - Said the taxi driver, I lifted my head because I had closed my eyes for a few minutes to rest, I looked around and could notice that it stopped in front of a house all in white wood with a stone path and some vases of colorful flowers, a fence in dark brown, it was the same that I had seen advertised on the site for sale of real estate, in front of the lawn a sign written sold and my name underneath Ayanne Reese. I opened the car door and the taxi driver went to the trunk, removing my luggage.

- By the way, my name is Joseph William, this is my card. If you need a cab driver, you can call me. - He smiled, handing me the improvised piece of paper.

- Thank you Joseph, I will need one! - I thanked him and paid his fare, watching Mr. Joseph walk away. I didn't really know if I would need his services, but I couldn't be rude, as he didn't seem to be doing anything wrong.

I looked around for a few seconds, and walking to the entrance of the house, I took the keys from inside a potted plant in the same place where the previous owner had said he would leave them, took a deep breath and opened the door.

I sighed with satisfaction when I saw the inside of the house, an american kitchen in beige tone and tiles on the walls with details of flowers in pink and gold the living room was also the same color but with the background wall highlighting a wallpaper with drawings of flowers in a very light shade of pink, in the middle of the room and the kitchen a corridor with four doors also in beech wood in white, beautiful by the way, I opened the first one on the right side and saw that it was the bathroom all white with white marble with black details imitating slits, the second door on the same side was a small room maybe for guests but equally beautiful, following to the left opening the first door what delighted me was a large window overlooking the garden, a beautiful bay window with a compartment that I could put my books, the walls in beige with many flowers and pink and gold details, the owner had told me that the house belonged to his late mother and that she loved these colors, what I did not disagree were beautiful tones that left the environment calm and tranquil. Wondering where I would put all my belongings, I felt my cell phone ring in my pocket, I reached into the small crack in the back of my pants seeing the number on the screen and answered it immediately.

- Hello - I pronounced a little low even though I knew it was just the delivery people.

- We are coming to your address. - The man on the other end of the line informed me.

- I hung up and walked to the front of the house to wait for them.

I looked around seeing the calmness throughout the neighborhood incredibly exuded such tranquility, I smiled at this, but this peace ceased when I felt like I was being watched, I looked to the sides and saw nothing, when I looked at the house facing me a shadow behind the curtains aroused some discomfort, because I didn't know who it could be, of course my neighbor, but such an attitude made me fearful. My first contact was broken as soon as I heard the sound of the truck entering the street, I looked at it and waved my hand shyly, when I turned my gaze back to the window the person was no longer there, which left me wondering who my neighbor was and why he didn't show himself.

" Maybe he was just curious! I concluded this little doubt that had formed in my head. "

The parked truck and the helper guided me to the large back door of the vehicle, it would be a full day's work, but I felt it would be worth any and all effort, after all this was my dream home.

"This is going to be my new life! I smiled at my thought."

I grabbed the first box I saw and walked to the door, opening it with a little difficulty. I put the box on the floor to see what room I would put it in, it was just a few dishes so it would be in the kitchen. A few hours later the truck had already left, so I found myself packing at least the essentials to get me through that day, since I would have to do it alone there was no point in rushing, there were still many boxes in my room and the kitchen was already somewhat organized even though it took a long time, pure irony I still had so many things to pack in all the rooms that if I stopped to think I would feel discouraged.
