Chapter 48

Reyna-

Two hours into the drive and Zane has yet to say a word. I thought about what I could ask him, but everything I produced sounded suspicious even in my head. We were currently listening to the radio, which oddly was one of my favorite stations.

I wouldn’t have thought that we would have anything in common with each other. At first, I thought he had chosen the station because of me, but he sang along flawlessly. Every so often I would sneak a glance at him, trying to figure out what it was about him that I was suspicious of.

The only thing I had to work with was the bad feeling I had and how Luka had responded. The more I tried to figure it out, the more I didn’t understand why Zane would trap his best friend. Looking at him from the passenger seat, he seemed innocent.

“I need to go to the bathroom. How about you?” Zane spoke his first words after turning off the radio.

“I am fine.”
