When I didn’t hear the elevator coming, I remembered that it was out of order. Turning to go to the stairs, I was blocked as Zane placed an arm out and flattened his hand against the wall. Spinning around, I attempted to go the other direction, but he quickly placed his other hand on the wall, trapping me.

“Just give me a minute to explain.” Zane sounded panicked.

“I saw nothing, I should have knocked.” Unable to meet his eyes, I kept my gaze on the ground.

“That was just us having fun. We aren’t in a relationship and if you want me to, I will end it with her.”

“It is none of my business what you do in your free time.”

I wasn’t sure if he were angry or what, but I prayed that he wouldn’t ask me what I had been doing up here. Instead of barging in, I should have listened through the door for any sounds. The last thing I needed to be was careless, especially around him.
