RICHARD’S POV

"I was fooled," B sniffled in a sob, tears streaming down her face as she lifted her head from my chest. "I bumped into him at a coffee shop, and he caught my phone before it fell. I thought he was the guy who had tried to force himself on me at the club, but he explained that we hadn't met before and I believed him. He said his name was Bernard and he was visiting family from another city. He…” She brought her hand over her mouth to stop herself from breaking down further because it seemed all too much for her to bear.

“It’s okay,” I said as I still held her closer again. “You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”

She shook her head in disagreement. “No…I want to talk about it.”
