“Why is my father calling?” I asked frowning, Alexei shrugged in confusion and I frowned looking at Nikolay to find him sharing the same frown, both of us heading out of the bedroom to his office.

Nikolay picked up his office’s phone and put the call on speaker “speak”

“Is that a way to greet your father-in-law?” Dad asked sarcastically, I didn’t speak as Nikolay motioned for me not to make a sound.

“What do you want?” Nikolay asked, I knew why he was angry with him, having heard of everything he’s done with me all the years I was growing up, and how he had abused mum as well, Nikolay HATED men who took advantage of women against their wills, he saw it as a weakness in the man, and he was right, it was a weakness, seeing that a woman was weaker than any man was, especially one of a mafia. Dad never hesitated though, he constantly saw himself as stronger and always wanted to prove him
