Chapter 39: Close Dash in Hell

Ava's POV

I felt cold as I moved through the crowd. The cold was caused by the fear growing inside of me like a fetus.

I was expecting, waiting for it, for the men on my trail to make their move. Any moment from now they were going to capture me not knowing it was actually a surrender.

A surrender? The word tasted sour on my tongue.

Who could have thought that I'd choose to go back there?

I had spent so much time trying to escape and somehow here I was returning to him. How ironic.

The thought of Miguel gave me chills. It was good and bad, there was some kind of ease at the thought of seeing him again blended with the fear of being close to him again.

He was probably not going to let the betrayal of my disappearance go just like that. He was the kind to hold grudges but I wasn't really worried about that.

I was more worried about staying with him, and what that would mean for me.
