Chapter six

Today is Thursday, and I realize that I haven't dedicated enough time to review Mr. Bennett's complete schedule. To my surprise, it's filled with crucial information. He has important meetings scheduled with Italian businessmen in the upcoming days, as well as meetings with investors from Germany. Furthermore, I discover that a trip to Brazil is planned, and I'll have to accompany him. Interesting, why not use this to my advantage?

Shall we have some coffee?

Could you get it for me? - I asked, giving a cute face - I'm just finishing up checking some matters.

Sure, I'll be right back.

Thank you.

After enjoying a pleasant breakfast with Samantha, I headed to Alexander's office to inform him about an extremely important commitment he has scheduled for today.

Excuse me.

You may come in, Sophia. Any problem?

No, I just wanted to remind you that you have a lunch in one hour with Mr. Gregorio.

You'll come with me.

Alright.

I decided to stop by the bathroom to freshen up my hairstyle and touch up my makeup. It was crucial to look impeccable, not to go unnoticed in front of everyone, especially in front of him.

Then, we made our way to the restaurant in his yellow convertible. As we entered the place, curious gazes turned towards us. Women sighed for him, while men drooled over me.

We settled at one of the tables, and a waiter promptly came to serve us. We chose to order only water, and while we waited for Mr. Gregorio to arrive, we engaged in conversation.

What made you want to work for me?

I enjoy new challenges, learning, and absorbing new things. Moreover, your company is among the top three most prestigious in the country. I'm confident that by adding this experience to my resume, no other company will dare to refuse my services. - He chuckled.

Your comment is quite sensible, but I didn't like the last part I heard. - I said humorously. - Are you planning to leave us?

That's not what I meant. - I faked a smile. - But obviously, I can't be with you forever. As I mentioned, I enjoy new challenges.

I understand. You're a smart woman.

I know, but thank you for the compliment.

You're welcome.

Good afternoon, my dear friend. - Said an elderly man.

Good to see you. - He stood up and hugged him.

Likewise. Who is this beautiful woman? Don't tell me you finally got divorced?

Some things never change. - He said awkwardly.

- This is my new assistant, Sophia.

Pleasure to meet you, miss. - He kissed my hand. - Allow me to say that your stunning and exotic beauty is mesmerizing.

You're very kind.

It's a shame you're not divorced yet. You two would make a perfect pair.

I could hardly believe what I was hearing. Me and Alexander Will Bennett as a couple? The idea was so absurd that it made me feel a mixture of disgust and indignation. I would prefer to face death than to actually become a couple with my greatest enemy. The hatred I felt for him was so intense that I couldn't find words to fully describe it. It was a feeling that transcended all known dimensions, a burning flame that consumed my chest and fueled my determination to defeat him. The mere suggestion of being by his side in a romantic way was like a punch in the stomach, an insult to my own existence.

No matter how impressive he might appear to others, I saw beyond appearances, knew his true essence, and knew that nothing could make me succumb to that connection so devoid of any genuine feelings. What I felt for Alexander was only the opposite of love; it was fury, the desire to see him defeated, destroyed. I was determined to make him pay for all his mistakes and injustices, and I would never allow the idea of us being a couple to become a reality. My aversion to him was so deep that it was as if our souls were eternally linked in a battle of opposing forces. There was no room for the creation of a true relationship, only the relentless thirst for revenge and the tireless pursuit of my own justice.

It seemed evident that Mr. Gregorio had no sympathy for Bennett's wife, and indeed, how could it be any different? It was easy to see that the woman was capable of spreading hatred wherever she went.

After the waiter took our orders and left, we sat at the table and began to enjoy a peaceful and relaxed lunch. It was curious because it wasn't a business lunch, but rather a more personal encounter. I was surprised when he decided to take me with him instead of leaving me at the company, working alongside Samantha and enjoying her lively company.

We all talked about common interests, shared funny stories, and even discussed deeper topics. I couldn't help but wonder why he had chosen me for this intimate moment, after all, he could be anywhere else with anyone else. However, there he was, sharing this moment with me. It was a gesture that challenged my understanding and stirred my emotions.

Upon returning to the company, I resumed my daily tasks as usual. During our journey here, Bennett, my damn boss, started a conversation and asked if I had ever visited Brazil. With a smile on my face, I replied that I hadn't, revealing my underlying excitement at the thought of exploring that country. I feel extremely thrilled with the prospect of experiencing an enriching and memorable adventure in the Brazilian land. Since the idea of visiting Brazil materialized in my mind, an uncontrollable sense of enthusiasm has taken hold of me, fueling my curiosity and expectations. To imagine myself immersed in the rich Brazilian culture, exploring its breathtaking landscapes, savoring its diverse cuisine, and meeting warm and welcoming people, it awakens in me a feeling of pure euphoria. I can't wait to explore the paradisiacal beaches of the Brazilian coastline, walk through the historic streets of Salvador, or experience the grandeur of the Iguaçu Falls.

Brazil, with its vastness and diversity, promises an unparalleled experience that will surely leave an indelible mark on my life. I'm excited to immerse myself in a country full of colors, flavors, rhythms, and unique traditions. Every thought of this imminent adventure makes my heart beat faster, while my mind fills with vivid images and exciting expectations. I can hardly contain my excitement when I think about the cultural encounters that await me, the stories and memories I will bring back with me. Soon, I will embark on this transformative journey that will surely provide me with a special glimpse of Brazilian culture and allow me to dive into an authentic and unforgettable experience.

"How was lunch?" Samantha asked as soon as I sat down in my seat.

"It was interesting, but I wish I had lunch with you."

"That makes my heart warm."

"That's the idea."

"You succeeded," she said, smiling.

"Thank you, it means a lot to me."

"You're welcome, ragazza," she said, making me laugh.

I picked up my phone and saw a message from Natan that was sent an hour ago.

Good afternoon, my little one.

How are you, daddy?

You really enjoy testing my patience, don't you?

I love it, actually.

I'm getting everything in order in our businesses, and I'll be there in a few weeks.

I'm glad you reconsidered my proposal; I miss you so much.

I miss you too, my love.

How long do you plan to stay in the United States?

It will depend on what can keep me there.

Alright.

How are things going in your new job?

Very well, everything will be fine.

I know it will, my little Ava. Make him fall into our trap.

That's the plan.

I trust in your potential, together we will destroy him.

Yes, don't doubt that.

I didn't spend most of my adolescence training to ruin him just for everything to go wrong. I gave up many things because of my desire for revenge. Among them, having friends and enjoying life like any other teenager does. I couldn't have fun, go to parties, and experience many of the things that young people my age usually do. Unfortunately, after Bella's death, I was never a normal girl again. Her loss left a deep mark on my life, turning me into someone with a single purpose: seeking justice and revenge. This relentless pursuit of revenge deprived me of crucial experiences of youth, those carefree memories and moments of fun that should be part of this phase of life. Instead, I devoted myself to a lonely and relentless goal, rejecting normalcy for a personal mission. The weight of this emotional burden and the absence of a typical teenage life shaped who I became, turning me into someone different, with visible and invisible scars.

I was sitting in my office when Alexander called me to his office. Quickly, I decided to take the opportunity to try to seduce him. Without thinking much, I pulled up my skirt and unbuttoned a few buttons of my shirt, hoping to catch his attention.

Yes, sir?

As soon as I entered, I noticed his gaze immediately shift from the computer and roam over my body, focusing on my thighs and moving up to my breasts. He stared at me for a few seconds, but quickly returned to his usual posture.

Don't put through any calls, and most importantly, don't let anyone interrupt me. Understood? - Alexander spoke firmly.

Yes, sir.

Throughout the day, Alexander remained locked in his office, and I took on the responsibility of ensuring that no one interrupted him. I fulfilled my task diligently, keeping intruders at bay and preserving his privacy.

At the end of the workday, Samantha invited me to go to a bar with some friends. Taking advantage of the Friday night and having no work the next day, I gladly accepted. When I arrived home, I took a long and relaxing shower, letting the hot water calm my senses.

I chose a short and shiny dress, adorned with sequins, and wore high heels to accentuate my silhouette. I tied my hair in an elegant ponytail and applied light makeup, emphasizing the color of my eyes.

I called a taxi and informed the driver of the address I had been given. Upon arriving at the bar, I spotted Samantha sitting at one of the tables, surrounded by her friends.

"Good evening," my lips curved into a smile.

"I thought you weren't coming," Samantha grumbled, slightly irritated.

"Don't be silly, I didn't take that long."

"Forty minutes," she said after checking her watch. "Do you think that's short?"

"Stop being dramatic."

"Are you going to introduce her or not?" one of the friends impatiently complained.

"Everyone, this is Sophia, my new friend," Samantha smiled. "Sophia, these are my longtime friends, David and Juan."

"Pleasure to meet you," I said, smiling.

"The pleasure is all ours," they responded in unison.

"Where's Lincoln?"

"Did someone ask for me?" Lincoln appeared out of nowhere, making it hard for me to breathe.
