Maya’s POV,

My feet wobbled as I trudged back to my chambers. I couldn't use the horse, the brutal scenario I’d witnessed at the Dowager's weakened me to my bones.

I knew the Dowager was vile but I never really knew to what degree!

In as much as I hated being a failure, I wouldn’t want to go through such horrific torture. My determination to step up my game and unravel everything I need to about that pesky Regan became stronger.

“And where are you coming back from?” A familiar voice jolted me out of my reverie and that was when I realized I’d not only entered my chambers, but Regan was on my way. Damnit!

As usual he’s trapped in his wretched wheelchair, wearing a stoic and fierce expression that just riled me up.
