043 - An Unexpected Visit

Two days had gone by swiftly since I began spending time teaching Althea Math. But we need to work overtime today as she needs to submit her manual tomorrow.

“Althea, you’re not listening. Do we need to have another round with fractions and determiners?” She was sitting on my lap, and I was letting her answer some equations on her own.

“My mind is not functioning.” She let out an exasperated sigh.

Althea was not kidding when she said her mind was in the gutter when it came to math. But with no formal background in advanced math, it was really hard to start with, even the basic algebra, but she was trying, and she was good at it. But learning everything is impossible overnight.

“Maybe it's better if you sit somewhere else and not on my lap. If you’re able to get the equations right, then you can sit back here.” I suggested as I rubbed her back.
