CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX - UNINVITED GUEST

Cassy POV

My mood instantly plummeted outside the police station and went downhill from there.

Without waiting for Tory, I climbed the short steps to the apartment.

The nanny greeted me. She assured me that the kids were still sleeping. Even so, I wanted to see them.

This was the first night I stayed out late; leaving them in the care of someone other than my family or close friends felt strange.

So, after paying the nanny and letting her out of the door, I charged up the steps to the children's bedroom.

They were both sound asleep. I tiptoed inside the room to hover from their bed, watching their chest rise and fall in rhythm.

Getting my fill, I kissed them both on the forehead before getting up and going out of the bedroom, making sure I pulled the door shut on my way out.

I went downstairs to the waiting Tory, surprised when she was not there, and in her place, I found Tony sitting calmly by one of the couches.

Frowning in confusion, I asked, “Where is Tory?”
