“Are you okay?” I asked Cassy.

We were in bed.

We already put the kids to bed ages ago.

Still, my wife tossed and turned on her side of the bed, and I had a good idea of what was bothering her.

I wanted to assure her that tomorrow was going to be alright. But knowing my mother’s track record, I could only predict the worst.
