Yuki rested her back on a wall in the hallway after she ran out of the library. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Her heart was pounding out of nervousness.
“What is wrong with me?” Yuki whispered to herself. Yuki wanted to bang her head on the wall, but that would be stupid. “Why did I say that?”
Why did she have to be mad about it? She knows it herself, she’s only her rank by name. Other than that, she’s nothing. The last team that she had joined, all of them died. Only she was alive.
Ever since then, she had been moving alone. With the ability she gained, she was able to grind a lot of low risk quests. She had only been lying to them. She was not strong at all. All she could do was order others around, but she can’t do anything herself.
She’s only a burden, but she hid that fact from them. She’s always wondered why she hadn’t lef
“Now this is interesting, however I still advise you to stand down.” She looked at the place that she stabbed. It already healed.“I don’t know what you’re going to do with her blood, but I can’t let you do it.”“Even you right now, you’re still not able to beat me.”“Even so, I can at least buy some time.”“Hehe at most you’ll only hold me for a few seconds. Besides, you won’t be able to keep up with me.” Just after she said that, the cut on her cheek immediately healed.“Regeneration?”“Correct. All demons can regenerate and as the highest rank of them, mine is superior. Your injuries will only increase while I can instantly heal my wounds. You don’t stand a chance.”Hearing that fact made Matthew shake a b
Rika soaked a piece of cloth and wringed it so it’s only moist, not wet. Then she placed the cloth on Rose’s forehead. Rose was breathing quite heavily and mist came out of her mouth since the autumn air was a bit colder today. After changing the cloth, Rika carried out the basin of water she used out of the room. Matthew, who was standing by the door, made way for her before he walked closer to the bed.Cecilia was sitting on a chair beside the bed and Yuki was standing in front of it. Matthew stood beside Yuki.“How is she?” He asked.“She’s been having a fever since last night. A bad one. The doctor said it’s not a disease. She just pushed herself, that’s all. She’ll be fine after some rest.”“Is that so…” Matthew sadly looked at Rose who seemed to be suffering through the fever. “I’m go
“Isaac, are you sure about going?” Mira asked.“Yeah, don’t worry I’ll be going with Lawen anyway. Yo Lawen, are you ready to go yet?” Isaac shouted to Lawen who was in another room of the inn.“Yeah, yeah! I’m good!” Lawen’s voice was muffled even though he shouted too.“Be careful, okay?” Mira held Isaac’s hands in hers.Isaac smiled and caressed her cheek with his right hand. “Don’t worry, I will.”Isaac and Mira shared a moment of silence together. Meanwhile in the background, Apoel and Lawen only stared at them, then glanced at each other.Isaac let go of Mira and walked toward the door. “Alright Lawen, let’s go.” Lawen followed behind Isaac while waving goodbye to the others.…..“Hey, g
Matthew, Cecilia and Yuki were gathered in Rose’s room. After Sara left, they had done nothing but sit and wait until Rose woke up. Yet Rose showed no sign of it.She was sweating and breathing heavily. Magic could only heal physical damage, but not diseases or natural illness. So all they could do was hope that Rose managed to pull through.“Hey, uhh Matthew.” Yuki suddenly spoke out of the blue. “I know this isn’t really a good time, but I’m sorry.”“I told you it’s not your fault. But I’m sorry too, for getting angry last night.”“It’s- it’s fine, I understand that I wasn’t really useful.”“Stop saying that!” Matthew accidentally shouted. The room fell silent, not even the sound of wind came. Matthew repositioned his chair and sat properly. “Sorry.”&n
“It really is you.” Matthew said, shocked to see Isaac sitting on the couch with a cookie in one hand and a cup of tea in the other.“Why? Missed me?” Isaac raised an eyebrow and smiled.Isaac had returned from the confirmation process and went straight to Cecilia’s mansion to give the shared credit to them. It had only been a little over a week since their parting but Isaac was already back.It took almost two weeks to come across the castle, so even if they already knew the location of the castle it was impossible to have returned this quickly.Matthew shook his head. “No, why would I miss you? Just surprised.”Isaac broke into a laugh. “Haha! Well, here’s the story. Apparently we got sent with Ryuka Harin. We got here with a teleportation scroll, Lawen out walking somewhere.” Isaac let out a smirk, as if proud of it.
The street was bustling as usual. Everyone was carrying out their daily lives like normal. All the while Matthew only walked with his head down and hands in pocket. He still does wave and greet the owners that each other recognise, but his expression was not the same as usual. He went to Layla’s shop. He thought about checking out some items or weapons to get his mind off things for a while. The bell above the door rang as he swung it open. The shop only had a few customers today. The shop was still amazing to see. Everything was properly organised and sorted. The workers were all nice and committed. The assortment of items was also great.“Oh, Matthew!” Layla’s voice came from somewhere in the counter. Matthew caught sight of her and walked towards the counter. “Hey~ how’s it going? Were you looking for something?”Matthew rested his elbows on the counter. &
Matthew stood by Rose’s while leaning on a wall. He watched as Rika changed the wet cloth on her forehead again. Her breathing was better now than yesterday. Her fever still hasn’t gone down. Matthew was getting worried about her condition. After Rika was done, she brought out the basin and left through the door.Once she left, Matthew sat on a stool beside her bed. He held her hand, tightening and loosening his grip on it. It was his responsibility to keep her safe, it was his fault that she got brought to this world too.Sitting like this, it reminded him of the time when Rose was waiting for him in the hospital. How long had she waited until he woke up? How many hours had she waited? He let go of her hand and caressed her hair. He twirled the red strands in her hair. He was knocked out when it happened, but Cecilia described that her appearance changed that night. It explained to him R
The next day, Matthew began his preparation. He had decided to keep this a secret from Yuki and Cecilia. This was something that only he wanted to do, they didn’t have to join him. Someone needed to take care of Rose.He needed to get supplies and that ‘gear’ Yuki mentioned. The supplies were easy and he knew where to find them, but what about the special item? He didn’t know where, but he knew who might know.“An item that can protect you from concentrated mana?” Layla asked to make sure with Matthew. “If you’re asking that, are you really going to Blackwood Mountain?”“Yeah. I mean, I’m not going just yet. If Rose doesn’t wake up in two more days I will, that’s what I’m planning.”“Hmm okay. But sorry, I’m afraid I don’t have any such items.”“Oh.” Matth
