Chapter 59. The Scent of Other Wolf

This was a disaster. The danger alarm inside Ryn's head lit up, roaring with a blinding red light.

"Albert?" squeaked the girl.

Ryn thought the man was not in the palace. She'd heard him directly—just eavesdropping—as Albert and Jayden talked about a business meeting with an Alpha from another pack that couldn't be delayed any longer. They would be gone for three days on business. Then why was Albert suddenly at the palace on the second day after his departure?

"I asked, where have you been?" asked Albert in a deep voice that gave Ryn goosebumps.

The girl gulped and licked her lips.

"I-I... err... I'm not from anywhere, just getting some fresh air," Ryn lied.

"You're lying!" said Albert.

Ryn's eyes rounded. She had just thought of an excuse to be evasive, but Albert first showed her something that shut her up. A paper in her handwriting that should have been in Darla's hand.

"Maybe you can explain it with this." Albert showed the note she had given Maina to hand over to Darla.
