"Is there anything I can say to make your heartbeat better"

Dawn's voice crashed Into my mind and I blinked, the blinding pain dissipating for a second before it came back with a vengeance. The taste of blood rushing up my throat almost made me gag, but I swallowed it down, the rhythm of my heart slowing.

I grabbed the wood but didn't get to yank it out as I was lifted Into the air, my hands stretched out by my side.

"Stop!" Persephone screamed. "Father, do something!"

The woman waved a hand and both my father and Persephone were also lifted in the air and held in place by invisible bonds.

I stared at the woman, the fire in her gaze burning into my skin. Alaric was soon in my line of vision and he let go of Fatimah who fell to the floor, looking almost lifeless. Her eyes were closed, blood marks trailing her cheeks and her neck was mangled as if an animal had chewed on it. She was still alive but was healing slowly. Dark magic thickened in the air, making it hard to breath
