Chapter 34

It's been weeks since Lia left and I couldn't breathe properly anymore. It feels as if a bigger part of me has been missing.

We have searched the whole city and I wonder where Lia might have gone with our child.

I sat at the table, looking at the empty chair where Lia usually sat. It had been weeks since she disappeared, taking our unborn child with her. I didn't know where she could have gone, or why she left. All I knew was that I missed her terribly.

I wish I was nicer to her. I feel cruel for leading her on. Especially not actually confessing my true feelings.

As I sat there, lost in thought, I heard a gentle knock on the door. I rose from my chair and opened it, revealing the Queen Mother, my mother.

She looked at me with concern, her eyes brimming with sadness.

"My dear son," she said, "I know you must be feeling so much pain right now. I wish there was something I could do to ease your suffering."
