Phoebe’s Pov
I couldn’t believe what I had just read. What was Cole up to? Getting Asher to attend the karaoke party was like a death mission embarked on.
It was unfulfillable, you know.
“What? Are you insane? This is never going to happen.” I expressed immediately, giving him a startled look. My misty dark eyes looked into his, still surprised.
“Yeah, it is. Besides, you’re his family friend, Phoebe. It’s as easy as that.” Cole retorted. I gritted my teeth in anger. He could be so insensitive at times.
“No, it’s not. You of all people should know he doesn’t talk to me.” I cried out.
“That’s even the more reason you should try. I know you Phoebe. You’re relentless. Once you set your mind to doing something, no one can stop you.” he added confidently.
“And, is that supposed to make me change my mind?” I asked, cringing my brows. The next thing he did was make the puppy face he knew was my weakness.
“Please, Phoebe. Do this for me, for us. Please. . .” he pleaded, dragging the please normal than usual. I hate my best friend. He knew my weakness.
“Oh, no. Don’t do that puppy face with me. I really hate it when you do that.” I groaned out only for him to make puppy face again.
“Please. . .” he begged again. He knew that face was my weak point. I couldn’t resist saying yes with his pity face.
Still, Asher was my crush and it'd be so awkward. But, this was my best friend…
“Fine, deal!” I let out, already frustrated.
“Really? Thanks for making this karaoke possible.” he made out.
“Though, don’t get too excited. Asher is a grumpy one so it won’t be easy.” I told him, sincerely. Besides, how was I even going to approach him to ask if he would come.
“Just do your best, bestie. I'll just do the second item on the list.” he said, grasping the karaoke to-do-list from my hand.
“What might that be?” I said, still stretching my neck towards the list he created.
“Get a popular figure to perform for us.” he replied me with confidence.
Cole sure knew how to dream so big.
Dreams?
I didn’t have any dream besides getting back at Whitney and getting Asher to like me. My life was as simple as that, you know. And I think I was contented with all other things, apart from those two.
“Are you kidding, Cole? Your list's expectations are too dreamy. Face reality! If we can’t get Asher to perform, how are we supposed to get a popular person to?” I asked crazily.
“I sure have my ways, Phoebe. Just do your part and I’ll do mine.” he answered, scratching the back of his head.
“Here’s your flute.” he muttered, handing me the piece. It was an old flute my dad gave me. I had told him I wanted a guitar but he declined my request, saying that wasn’t the essence of music.
My most pain was that my mum supported him.
“Thanks, for fixing it!” I told him.
“Yup anytime,” he replied.
"You know I love you, right?" I wrinkled my nose, telling him.
"I do, Phoebe. Best friends forever," he replied, giving me a thumbs up while I giggled.
…
I woke up the next day with the goal on my mind.
Get Asher to perform for the karaoke party.
To do that, I knew I had to get his attention. First, I was going to wear the best outfits in my wardrobe.
Normally, I didn’t pay attention to my appearance because I didn’t care. But, today, I was looking for attention. Thus, I had to wear something pretty sexy.
“Total care.” I reminded myself. I didn’t want to end up looking like one of the school sluts that chased him. I knew I had to wear something innocent and at the same time sexy.
As I scanned my closet for outfits, I couldn’t find any. I had already scattered my whole clothes on the floor.
For once in my life, I actually wished I paid more attention to my closet. Whenever mum got me new clothes, I’d tell her the homeless children needed it more.
I guess she got frustrated with her countless yelling and left me to my fate.
It was at that moment something dawned on me. I had a cousin named, Galaxy. She lived with us after her parents passed away in an accident since she was five.
If anything, Galaxy was about my age. She was a huge fashionista and my advantage this morning was that…
She was in school! That meant I could go borrow some of her clothes.

When I walked into college, I could feel different gazes at me. I knew it was definitely from the outfit I had worn.
I had taken a short leather skirt from Galaxy’s closet. I then paired it with a white blouse which had a bra cup shape. It kind of showed my shoulders which I felt wasn’t bad.
My legs were in a stylish boot I took from Galaxy’s closet too. As I walked to my locker, I could feel people gazing at me.
Just opposite my locker was Asher’s. With his back rested on his locker, a slut was trying her best to grab his interest. Her vicious boobs were leaning into him. I could see he was not interested though.
Asher's eyes bored into mine. It was a mysterious look that caused me to hook on my spot. I felt so timid at the point, with my gaze down. When I looked back up however, his gaze was already torn away from me.
I didn't know how to go about this at all. My hands, sweaty with so much nervousness. Perhaps, I could try to save him and get his attention.
Just as I moved to go, I heard a demonic voice from behind me.
“Well, well, well. Look who wore a different outfit today.” I looked side to see who it was.
Not again...
Whitney.
Her minions were just behind her.
“What do you want from me, Whitney? I thought you made yourself clear the last time.” I stated, asking. I was referring to how she had bathed me with a water which stunk of fish. I hated the fact that she bullied me and I couldn't do anything about it.
“Oh, shut up. You know you had my hatred ever since you embarrassed me in Chemistry class.” she declared maliciously, with the other girls humming in support. She was referring to how I had answered a question she missed in Chemistry class.
“That’s past, Whitney. Having a grudge because against me because of that is so lame and low.” I told her sincerely.
“You fucking bitch! You just called me lame and low!” she cried out. Without warning, her hands moved to my face. Before I could react, she had given me a slap on the face.
This sudden impact led to me falling weakly on the floor.
God, I wondered why I was such a loser when it came to defending myself.
“This is a lesson that you should be careful with whom you mess with. Let’s teach this little weirdo her place.” Whitney uttered, ordering them. The three of them aimed to pounce on me like jaguars.
With my elbows covering the back of my head, I waited for the impact but nothing came. This made me timidly look up.
I could swear my heart stopped. Or did it? Cause I could swear it did. My brows arched as I sized up whoever was in front of me.
“I couldn’t stop you when you hit her the first time. But, touch her again, I dare you,” A strongly masculine voice said. It was in the spur of the moment I realized who it was that had just saved me.
Asher.

First off, if anyone had told me I’d be alone with Asher at my house, I’d have probably dismissed you and told you off for saying gibberish. But here was I, with Asher; the college’s heartthrob. Believe me, I had no idea of what to do, what to say or don’t do. I mean who did, knowing you were under the watchful eyes of your most beloved?
Asher stillhad me in his hands. His striking features were directed in mine all the time.My knees were growing weak from being in his hands and being drunk. In fact, Icouldn’t control myself. My eyesalmost gorged out when he put me down on the floor gently but forcefully. A partof me wanted him to punish me like he said. I hoped to feel what it’s be liketo be punished by the college’s heartthrob who was also my crush.I was on myknees, with his hands on my hair. I heard buckles of his belt loosening. Ididn’t g
I woke up to a slightly disfigured room. Opening my eyes, I yawned loudly. It was then a throbbing headache welcomed me, making me almost yelp. My eyes darted to the bed, only to see it scattered and disarranged. The entire sheets were tangled and twisted. And for a reason, the pillows were not a pair this morning. One laid low on the floor, making me wonder how it got there. I was never much of a deep sleeper.I wriggled my brows when I saw my panties, twisted to a side of my ankle. This made me wonder what exactly had happened the night before. My head tried to remember, but the only thing that was coming in was the dream I had. It had been all about Asher you know. In the dream, he did lots of dirty things to me. We made out many times to the extent that a part of me had thought that it was real.As I moved to get up, my eyes landed on the clock beside the bed.“Shit no!” I exclaimed, with my eyes bolted at the fact that I might as well be
There was an amazed expression on Cole’s face. His green eyes stared at me with so much shock. Chestnut hair still the same. But I couldn’t just miss the look on his face.“H-How’s this possible?” he asked me, even stuttering a bit.“Like you said, the other day, believe in the impossible.” I let out, reminding him of his words.“Logically… I know. It’s just that I know Asher Gilbert. I’ve seen the kind of rocky relationship that airs between you two. What I don’t understand how this even happened…” he trailed out.His chin looked clenched and his hands were fisted into balls. With a corner of my eye, I watched his movement that minute. My brows arched at him.I mean, was this something that deserved this much of anger from him?We exited the corridors of the school that second.Cole then did the usual. He got into the car his parents g
Thinking things through with all that adrenaline rush, was something practically impossible. It was like my body did it’s freewill this very minute. But I didn’t blame it.If anything, we were in grave danger. And, there was no hell of a way I was calming down, until the impending danger was gotten rid of.As I got on Asher’s bike, there was one thing on my mind. It was a thought that I hoped he was really fast that we lost the wolf behind us! Thinking of something else? Off course it was just that.“Hold on still.” he ordered. If I didn’t listen well, I definitely would have had a hard time hearing. But I did listen well. Danger definitely could arouse many of one’s senses.Occasionally, I looked back to check on the black wolf. Through the corner of my eyes, I could see it approaching us. When it bared its teeth covered in saliva at us, I closed my eyes shut immediately. I also hoped Asher w
“That meant nothing to me. I’d forget it if I were you,”Those were the words I woke up to the next day. No matter how much I tried, they won’t leave. Even though, I wanted it too.I stood up angrily from my bed, stomping my feet to the bathroom. Breathing out puffs of air, I took my tooth brush and begun making annoyed paces, as I brushed my teeth.Flashbacks of him suddenly appeared into my head again. Thus, I grunted out, staring at the bathroom mirror with so much fury, growing in me.“Who do you think you are, Asher Gilbert?!” I asked to no one in particular.“Treating me like a piece of trash after the sensual night we had...” I trailed out.“Is that what it all meant to you, really?” I choked out, this time becoming so much sober. I didn’t even realize when my eyes became teary. Mum said I’ve always been so dramatic. Maybe this was what she did mean.
I held the piece of paper in my hand, while looking at Cole shockingly. I couldn’t believe that he just suggested that we ask Whitney’s sister to perform.I mean, of all things, why would he bring this up?“Wait really?” I asked him, with a shrunken nose.“Yup,” he answered. My brows cringed immediately. I wasn’t sure why he was doing this but I knew I would soon find out.“Are you being serious, right now?” I asked again.“Yeah, sure. It certainly would be better like that. Think about who won’t want to show up at our karaoke, after learning that she’d be performing?” he uttered, swaying his index fingers, like he had just won a jackpot.“It’s just like a ticket, to every student here,”I knew he had a point. The only thing was that his approach to things were a little outlandish at times. There was no soul in s
