Chapter 29

The ride home was silent. Even though Carter tried to break the silence, I only answered with one word or nod my head. He didn't want to probe me further so he stopped.

We got home and the driver helped with the groceries inside. He did that alongside the driver. I waited till they dispatched the whole groceries inside and he came to sit down.

Still not talking, I went to the kitchen to arrange the groceries in the fridge and some in the cupboard. It was afternoon so I decided to make Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken. I brought out the fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and cheese.

It took me some minutes but eventually I finished. I served the food and went back to clean the kitchen.

By the time I came out Carter was already seated at the dining and was tapping his feet impatiently. I stiffled a laugh then went to sit. I served his food and pushed the plate to him and then dished out mine.

"This tastes heavenly." He winked at me. I ignored him and focused on
