Diet

“Mommy. . .”

Dave and I stopped as the two of us piled up the things we were going to take to his car.

“Mommy, Daddy. . .” Davvy repeats Mommy's call to me.

Blushing I glanced at Dave. He just shrugged and nods in my direction. I looked down at Davvy who was now hugging my waist.

"He-hey, Davvy." I stroked its head. "Are you ready for this school field trip?"

Davvy nods and smiles. “Yes. Uhm, Auntie. Can I call you Mommy just for two days? Because those of my classmates, they are with their mommy and daddy. So, you are there as my mom, right? So, you are my mommy good for two days. Is it okay with you?”

I couldn’t answer right away. My heart feels great hearing my daughter’s calling me her mommy, but I felt a bit of shame.

Dave cleared his throat and Davvy caught a glimpse of us. “That would be nice, Davvy. You are free to call her your mother. Anything that you want, that’s okay.”
