23. New Life

Virginia entered her room, her cheeks flushed and her clothes adorned with patches of flour from the impromptu food fight with Susan in the kitchen. Laughter still lingered on her lips as she surveyed the space that served as her personal sanctuary within the mansion.

“Gosh, Susan really pulled no punches!” said Virginia as she looked at herself in the mirror. What she saw there kind of explained why the elegant bodyguard was breaking his own character before. “I can’t believe I showed this ridiculous appearance out in the open! Even Harold who usually was reserved, was unable to hold his giggling down!”

Then she turned around, looking at the place she was in. Her room, tastefully decorated in soft hues of lavender and cream, exuded an air of tranquility.
