I waited until the crowd had dispersed before I turned to Arabella… Emma… whatever her name was. It confused me to the core, how so easily I could place her. If only she had not lied from the very beginning… if only she had not revealed her true identity to me even after lying…. If only she could cover her tracks well so I wouldn’t discover this deceit.

Nevertheless, I couldn’t very well leave her after the statement she made earlier. She had been looking directly at Mia when she spoke about framing her for murder.

“I’ll see the prisoner back. You stay here and oversee the rest,” I said to the soldiers as I led Arabella back to the detention center.
