ARABELLA POV

I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. It was pretty much simple; just open it wide arcs and let me down there then bury me back. Mia came closer, looking at me in such an incredulous way that it was laughable. She had never expected that I would be the one who turned up; that she would see me. It would be more funny and understandable if I knew what the hell she was talking about.

“What do you mean, Mia?”

She laughed. It was loud, humorless and filled with pain. I didn’t realize how painful heartbreak could be until I heard her laughter.

“So you’re just going to pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about, huh?” she said. “Tell me Emma, when did you have the time to plan this mischief when you spend all your time with me?”

“What mischief? I have no idea of what you’re talking about!”

She scoffed. “Are you going to lie now that you didn’t sabotage my party?”

“I did not sabotage any party of yours,” I said, folding my arms under my breasts.
