Chapter 2

She felt her head was heavy and throbbing. She tried opening her eyes and after a couple of tries, she gradually opened them only to be met by a white ceiling and white-painted walls. From the room's smell, she knew that she was in the hospital. Trying so hard to think how she ended up here, she later recalled the misfortune she had passed making her sigh deeply.

"You are awake," a deep voice said coldly, making her wonder what kind of a person it was to talk to a patient in that manner.

The man who was seated on the couch beside the hospital bed was looking at her emotionless making his secretary who was leaning against the door wonder what his boss was thinking.

"Go call the doctor and tell him that she is awake," he said still not averting his eyes from her.

His words made her realize that there was more than one person in the room. Anxiously, she tried to wake up and sit so that she could know what was going on.

"W...ho," she tried talking but her throat was aching badly since.

The man in the black suit stood up and walked to where the nightstand was before pouring the water that was in the jar into a glass. He later walked to where she was and gave her the glass of water.

Without thinking much, she decided to trust the stranger and took the glass before drinking the water.

"Thank you," she said as she handed him the empty glass.

He nodded his head before walking back to the couch.

"Who are you?" she asked as that question was currently disturbing her. She was against every human being after what happened. To her, no one is trustworthy enough. As she looked at him, she shivered in fear knowing that she was too weak to even protect herself if the man wanted to kill him.

Seeing the panic and fear in her eyes, he said, "You need to come down. I am not going to hurt you," he said in a low voice but emotionless making one wonder whether what he said was trustworthy or not.

When she did not detect any kind of emotion in his tone, she did not relax even a bit but she became more triggered.

When he realized that his words did not have any kind of effect on her, he sighed deeply and wondered what the young lady had gone through to have her guard up against everyone. He looked at her for a while, with no emotion on his face and expressionless as if he was trying to read her.

"Please, don't hurt me," she said quickly as she saw the way he was gazing at her. Her heart was racing faster as she closed her eyes since she didn't want to witness how he was going to kill her. She knew that he was sent by her sister to finish her off.

"I am not going to hurt you. Calm down," he said softly with a little reassurance in it but to Rhiannon, that was all she needed to hear.

He was shocked as he had never talked to anyone in such a soft voice. Just as he was about to return his cold face, he saw that she had stopped trembling thus he stopped as he understood that his cold voice and face made her misunderstand and think he was there to harm her.

The doctor hurriedly walked in followed closely by the man's secretary.

"Can you please look at how she is doing," she heard the man say and she opened hers only to see a man in a white coat beside her. Knowing that he was a doctor, she tried her best to calm down.

"Okay sir," the doctor said before moving closer to her with an ophthalmoscope.

Touching her forehead, she flinched, making the doctor take a step backward and look at her.

"You need to calm down. I won't harm you in any way. I am just going to carry out some check-ups then we will be done," he told her before looking into her eyes using the instrument he had on hand.

He later put it aside and took out a small notebook and a pen before writing it down. After that, he took the spirometry and later, he put it down before taking a flexible laryngoscope. After some minutes of check-up and writing on the book, he closed it, packed his instruments then turned to the expressionless man.

"Everything is fine but her throat is sore and she is suffering from pneumonia. From that and the way she was yesterday, I think that she was caught in the fire before being brought here. I have prescribed some medicines you can buy. After taking them, she will be fine. Also, from how she is behaving, I think she is traumatized maybe you should get her a therapist to help her forget everything that happened to her. Excuse me," with that said, he left.

"Take this and get what the doctor has written down," the man sitting on the couch said coldly.

"Okay sir," the guy who had walked in with the doctor previously said.

"Who are you?" Rhiannon asked immediately the two of them were left behind.

"You don't know who I am and yet you are the one who walked in front of my car?" He asked coldly and angrily cause he couldn't figure out whether the woman was just pretending to not know him or she seriously didn't. She wasn't the first one neither would she be the last one, that he knew.

"Ooh, I am very sorry sir. There weren't a lot of vehicles at that time and I needed someone to take me to the hospital. As I said before blacking out, I will pay you for your kindness. How much sir? Is 2 million enough?" she asked, making him scoff and look at her dangerously.

He looked at her in disbelief. 'Who does she think I am? Is 2 million an amount to me?' he asked himself as he couldn't comprehend how arrogant the woman was.

"It isn't enough," he said coldly as he wanted to see how much she could give him if he refused to take the amount she offered.

After waiting for her answer for a while without getting it, he raised his head from his tablet only to find the woman looking at the TV coldly and dangerously. Her dark aura was so suffocating reminding him of the old man who had brought him up. His curiosity made him turn and watch the TV.

"Yesterday, a fire burnt my apartment down. Even though I lived in it, I didn't care much since I could buy anything that was burnt but a few minutes ago, we curiosity realized that my fiancée, Rhiannon Anderson, was in my house," a blonde man.

"My sister was always caring, kind and beautiful. I still can't believe that she has now left us," a woman who was beside the guy said as she wiped her tears.

Rhiannon rolled her eyes at the stupid game they were playing in public. She felt so disgusted and wondered why they weren't in the entertainment industry.

"Even though she is now gone, the businesses must continue. Since she had 60% shares of the Flores company, the shares will be handed over to Kaylee Flores, her sister. Thank you all but we hope that the public will let the Flores family mourn in peace," another guy who spoke professionally as if he were a lawyer said.

Returning his gaze to the woman lying on the bed, he put two and two together before understanding what happened but didn't say anything about it.

A few minutes passed before Rhiannon regained her senses and looked at the man in the room with her.

"Sorry about that. I didn't hear what you said, pardon me please," she said calmly.

"Do you want to return my kindness?" the man asked in a low tone.

"Yes I don't like owing others," she said sharply and coldly making him raise his eyebrows. He didn't know that a woman could have such an authoritative tone while a few minutes ago she was so timid and afraid of everyone.

With a smirk on his face, he said, "Then marry me."
