Chapter Twenty Nine

And just like that, the day is here.

As I take the first step onto the aisle, I'm aware of every pair of eyes in the room swinging around to face me. They were all already staring at the entrance before I even came in. All along, I had taken comfort in the fact that I'd have my mum by my side to walk the aisle with me. It wasn't until this morning that Trish had informed me that she wouldn't be doing that. According to her, it was indeed customary to have a parent walk you down the aisle but that wasn't the case for royal weddings, especially not one of a future Luna. You have to make that little journey on your own, a little symbolic action to show the people that you are not emotionally dependent or weak. Right now, I don't feel independent or strong.

The air is filled with the slow, melancholic song the band is playing and I try to remember to move my feet in accordance to it. Standing there at the end of the aisle is him, my soon to be husband. His eyes are equally fixed on me as
