Even though it hurt her that she lost the baby before even coming to terms with the fact, a little part of her was glad after this revelation.
After all that she has done with Wilhelm, she couldn't think of bringing it to an end just so she could be with Richard and neither did she want Richard to connect to her in any way. The baby would have made it difficult to get rid of him for good.
