TXUNAMY'S POV
It was mom and dad, the alpha and Luna of the Blood Venom pack, Alpha Kelvin and Luna Gloria.
Dad came in first, somehow, in the space of three minutes, Oliver had managed to reach for his clothes and had dressed up under the covers before dad was fully in the room.
Dad recognized him immediately.
"Alpha prince Oliver!"
He called in a somewhat delighted tone, totally ignoring me.
Oliver nodded his head.
"It's me sir, it's a pleasure seeing you again after all these years, albeit in a very awkward scenario."
He said.
Mom pushed past me then and asked,
"What is going on here? And what was that loud noise about?"
As though she was blind to the couple in bed and like she had not seen me at all.
"Oh, I imagine Oliver here came to see his betrothed, Txunamy."
Dad said in the most casual tone I had ever heard him use. He was not even looking at me.
Mom nodded in agreement and my eyes just kept moving from one person to the other and then it rested on Riele's face. She had worn the scared look of a cat in a burning house now and she was going to do it, she was going to get everyone on her side, she was the vulnerable one every time, the one who deserved to be pardoned at all times.
Oliver was back to looking confused again and he looked from me to Riele who was still by his side, He looked at Riele and asked,
"Wait, this is not all a joke. Is she not the one I was betrothed to?"
He asked, pointing at Riele.
Mom shook her head and dad did too, but they looked like they were sorry it had happened and not angry that Riele had done what she had done.
"She Said she is the daughter of the alpha of the Blood Venom pack."
"And so am I, Oliver."
I said calmly.
He was standing now and I could swear that I saw the beads of perspiration suddenly start to appear on his face. He was getting hotter with the clarity of everything that was happening.
Mom and dad just stood there, obviously not comfortable but not entirely showing any feelings yet.
I didn't blame them, They were sure Riele did not know. But I knew better. I just didn't say anything. I was used to being the one who always faded in the background, the one who was not given room to speak often. The one whose opinions did not even count. It didn't matter if I said anything then, it would not matter. But Riele soon started to make drama, the one thing I was sure she did very well, especially when she wanted to have something. It worked every time, why then could she not pull that stunt this one time?
"It's not unlike everyone to point the accusing fingers at me! No one ever told me he was betrothed to Txunamy!"
She cried. She had tears rolling down her cheeks as she spoke and she was doing the one thing that I had always known her to be good at, gathering sympathy and making herself appear like the victim in every situation.
"Don't cry now, Riele."
Dad said. Maybe he was supposed to snap at her, but his voice came out sounding caressing.
He sighed.
No one was looking at me.
"Why wouldn't I? No one tells me anything! I'm not treated any better than an unwanted stranger in this household. Why would I be with Oliver if I had known he was to be with her?"
She asked. She still had the tears running down her cheeks and I saw that mom wanted to reach her and hug her tight, but she was holding back and I didn't know why she was. Maybe she was worried I'd be hurt even more?
This was my entire life they were messing with. I had gone through the mate training and had excelled, in readiness for when my betrothed came to claim me and Make me his wife and Luna, but as I stood there, it started to become clearer to me just how easily all of that could change in a matter of minutes.
"No one treats you like a stranger, Riele."
I said softly, but it was as though it was as though no one had spoken. I was sure they had not heard me, or Maybe they had heard me but were just being the same people they had always been. Pretending like I didn't matter.
"That is okay now, baby."
Mom said softly to Riele. She shook her head.
"No, mom. When he came in here, I was the only one who saw him, he said he was the Alpha prince of the Moon Howlers pack and he was here to see his betrothed, the daughter of the alpha of the Blood Venom pack and I said that's me. How was I to know? I liked him and I thought I had been betrothed when I was much younger and had not met him, he thought I was his betrothed too.....I just.."
She trailed off and mom took a deep breath.
"So there was a mix-up, then!"
Dad said and it just made me become even more infuriated.
How much he wanted to have this dismissed like he did all other mistakes of hers, mistakes that she knew well enough she was about to make.
"It was all a mistake! If he had not just asked who the daughter of the alpha was, maybe things would have been different!"
Riele cried. She was blaming everyone but herself. She didn't have to push some of the blame to herself. Didn't she know that she was not the only daughter that the alpha of the blood Venom pack had?
Did she forget that I was her elder sister and that I naturally came first before her? If anyone had been betrothed discreetly, would that not be me?
She turned to me,
"I'm sorry, sister. But....I'm carrying his child!"
And I watched as the tears ran down her cheeks again with a new intensity.
TXUNAMY'S POV "Could you please let us have a bit of family time? The domestic help will take care of you until the alpha comes ."Mom said to Oliver who was still pretty shaken by the several instantaneous happenings. He nodded and slowly walked out of the room. The door was shut behind him."Now let's sit and know what to do. We have to have this mess sorted out."She said. It was not unlike her to be the one to handle matters like this, so I sat at one edge of the incredibly large bed, far away from where I could easily reach Riele and probably hit her. Which had never happened."Riele, why would you sleep with a man whom you've not properly investigated? Now look where this mess has landed us."Mom said. That was all the scolding I knew Riele was getting. It didn't matter what she had done or the gravity of the offense she had committed. The scolding was always the same, gentle and polite, she was not allowed to cry during the scolding and this was usually heavily dependent on m
CHASE LUCAS, ILLEGITIMATE SON OF THE ALPHA OF THE MOON HOWLERS PACKI turned once on the bed and the pain pivoted straight to my upper arm. I groaned and cursed. Lucas, my father often said that drinking did no good to anyone, this time, I could almost imagine him telling me that I was reaping from where I had sown, accident being the reward of driving while drunk. I smirked because he'd be believing that without second thoughts. My personal body guard and most trusted man, Pedro, came to have me discharged from the hospital. He was his usual self, casually dressed and ready to hoist me off if he thought it was necessary for him to do that.He had a smirk on his face when he came into the room I had been admitted in, alone."How did everything go, Pedro?"I asked the moment he was fully inside, the door shut behind him."Hope no one got hurt like I am?"I asked him. He frowned his face as if to say I was not hurt at all.Well, alright, just a small discomfort on one arm "No one was
TXUNAMY'S POVWe were to go to the Moon Howlers pack, to the royal household where we would meet the alpha, Lucas and his wife, Maureen as regards the mixup with his meeting with his mate. Dad came to give me small prep talk while we were yet to get into the car."The pack is Proud of you and how much you have done for the pack, daughter."He said. I nodded."Your skilled swordsmanship is one thing that has inspired a lot of Young girls In the pack, they now understand now that there is no limitation for them in whatever they set their mind on."Dad said. I nodded. On that, he was right. When I had first started the sword fight, many had frowned upon it, saying it was unladylike and too far away from what the daughters of alphas were to learn. The beta and the gamma had come to my father severally to state that I was not setting a good example for the other girls from noble homes, but my resilience and courage had kept me going until I had become skilled in the art, so much that I c
CHASE LUCAS POVI slowed down my walking pace when I began to hear their voices from the largest living room where all family meetings usually took place. They were talking about Oliver's mating with the Blood Venom royal girls and the conversation was one that interested me. I heard my step mother, Maureen's voice first. "It is not so muc harm as your father makes it seem. Both are the royal girls and it means nothing to me."She was saying. I turned and asked Pedro to leave me alone. I was going to stand there and listen. They would have the conversation with me in the room anyway. But maybe they would not talk as freely while I was there. But my father, the alpha of the Moon Howlers pack had asked me to come home and join this very important conversation and he had given me no choice in the matter at all. "But mother," Oliver Started to say in response to Maureen, "She is even more beautiful than the oldest, even though I'd rather be with the oldest. I don't know how cursed I
CHASE LUCAS POVI had left Maureen and Oliver because there was a chance that I would say something I'd end up hating myself for.And it did not help that when I was furious, it was a fight I wanted. Oliver was never a match for me. He'd bleed so badly until Lucas would have to interfere himself.Everytime I fought him, I proved to him who was older and he never wanted to fight. This was the one thing that I could throw jibes at him over and he'd lose his calm. But I didn't like being the one to throw taunts. That was easily something he enjoyed doing, not me. I didn't have to think of it. By default, I was heading to the coffee shop that had been my favorite since I was a child. Each time I had been angered enough to leave home, it was the same place that I headed to. There was a calming potency that the coffee carried and over the years, it had not changed. There was one large door for accessing the inside of the coffee shop which now had another department, a drug store.I had o
TXUNAMY POV Tears welled up in my eyes as I forcefully brushed past him. Not only had he carelessly spilled coffee on me, but he had also managed to momentarily distract me from the errand I had been sent on, and from my silent musings. He had also given me an avenue to vent my frustrations. I despised having to speak to anyone in the manner I had just spoken to him, but that had been my one chance to let off some of the pent-up steam that had been building within me.I reached the drug store and grabbed the drugs that I needed to get for Riele. While I was there, I got a text from mom, She said they had left because they could not wait any further while the alpha was expecting them, so I was to find my way to the pack house.I had no words to reply with, I stared into the phone for a couple of minutes and when I felt the tears start to prick the sides of my eyes, I lifted my head from the phone and started off towards the exit door.I had left the car to go and get the drug for Rie
TXUNAMY’S POVIt happened a bit too fast that I had a hard time keeping my feelings down.I had taken one step away from him and he had held me, his hand shooting out to grab one of mine as he held me firmly and pulled me back."You can't just leave, chestnut. I don't want you to go looking that way. Take the dress and go change in the bathroom," He spoke, his tone carrying a hint of insistence. His voice had transformed, now commanding, yet oddly infused with a tender touch that resonated within me.His rough palms grazed my hand as he started to loosen his grip on me, and his mouth was set in a mean small line. He had lips that didn't suffer in size, but the emotions he was trying to suppress got him pressing his lips together.I sighed. It was pointless saying no again when he was insisting. And why exactly was I rejecting his offer when it was for my own good?Well, it had to be because of the look in his eyes. He was threatening and he was tender, he was caring and he was rough
CHASE LUCAS POVI felt a stab of pain and jealousy when she said something about going to the pack house because her sister was to officially meet with her mate. Of course it was Oliver they were going to see. And had I not heard Maureen try to convince Oliver that he'd be able to get both girls on his side? What other girl could there be if not for her and her sister? Why did it always have to be him?Now it was clear that he had some sort of affiliation with chestnut and that automatically meant I'd put every thing I had imagined about her on hold. It wasn't how things were supposed to go. I could have just met her, fallen in love with her like I was already heading towards, and then just never have any reason to be confronted with anything that had to do with Oliver. How did he even think he'd have both girls?Chestnut looked to me like a strong-willed she_wolf who was calm when she was not pushed, yet extremely venomous when she had reasons to.She was reserved, and that made
