29: Old self never leaves

I am in the kitchen, making dinner yam porridge dinner with mama when the doorbell rings.

“Are you expecting someone?” mama asks, her brow rising.

I shake my head, my face folding as I try to recall if I am forgetting something.

“Not that I know of,” I mumble before heading over to the door when its bell rings the second time. “Who’s it?” I ask but receive no response from the one at the door.

I notice a small white slip pushed through under my door, and I picked it up to read it.

Trial Day #1: The Go Project package is in the box.

I flip the back of the paper and I see Jaclyn S. Tarr boldly written on it.

I reach for the doorknob and open the door before stepping out, but I see no one. Whoever knocked a minute ago has already left and there was no more sign of him at the door or street.

Whoever it was probably got tired and left. If that’s true, they have such small patients.
