Chapter 35: First Task

"What... are we doing here?"

We were in a forest I was unfamiliar with after the carriage dropped us here, or more likely, Thaddeus ordered the coachman to bring us to this place. I thought that we would return back to his pack since that was what he declared, but the route changed to a different place.

I asked Theodore, but he only answered that this was the Enchanted Birch Forest, located to the eastern north, away from the Adamantine Volcano.

When I glanced at Thaddeus, who looked distant and aloof, his eyes were fixated on his pocket watch before meeting my gaze, devoid of emotions. I felt like stepping back, but I remained on my ground, trying to remain unfazed.

"A small group of rogues, specifically five people, used this as their escape sanctuary. They are located on the north of this forest." He pointed to which way it was. "They are the culprits who attacked the White Pears pack and killed the Alpha. Their rogue leader was Lismod Bryle."

"And? What are we going to do here?"
