Chapter 48 - Leo's death

Domenic's POV

"How long has she been like this?" Summer asks me as she brings me a cup of coffee while I stand on the bedroom door watching Autumn curled up in her bed. I take the cup in my hands and then close the door of her room as I guide Summer down the hall to the little space with chairs and a bookshelf Autumn used for reading.

"Ever since we came home from the funeral, she curled up into a ball and cried into her pillow until she fell asleep." I sit down and place my cup of steaming coffee down as Summer sighs and joins me.

"Leo's death hit her pretty hard, Anthony told me just how important he was to Autumn, how much he helped her." I can still hear Autumn's screams in my head when she collapsed into my arms in the hospital as Leo died and the doctors called it.

She only got up from the floor to hug his grieving mother who was suffering the loss of her son with the rest of the family. The whole night I felt like an impostor among them, even if they didn't know it I didn't
