Sixty Four

The room was struck with silence as they all stared at the jotter without saying a word. Amelia frowned. Did he know whoever wanted to erase them from earth? Did he find out about their identity? She couldn’t take the silence anymore as her head started to ache with the numerous questions she kept filing it with these days.

“Who are they?” She questioned.

Her voice seemed to bring the rest out of whatever trance they were in. Mike nodded along with her. Although, they knew he could barely talk, yet they looked at his mouth for a response. After a minute, Mike pushed the jotter and pen back to him. “Just tell us whatever you know; we are going to figure the rest out.”

He started writing again; this time he wrote slowly as he had to take pauses to cough.

‘Board of Directors. Someone is involved in a crime, the victim was one of the orphans your parents were helping. They decided to kill everyone aware of the crime.’
